Description
Wayside Cottage is a house originally built in the 18th century, which was converted into two cottages in the 19th century and has since been restored to a single dwelling. A datestone inscribed with "R.P. (Richard Passmore)/1829" is located on the stack to the right. The exterior features colourwashed render over stone and cob, topped with a gabled thatch roof. There are external end stacks made of rendered stone finished in 19th-century brick. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a three-window range.
To the right of the center, there is a 20th-century porch with a modern outer door and an early to mid-19th-century plank inner door. A doorway to the left has been blocked. The windows are late 19th-century two-light casements with glazing bars, which are topped with flat rendered arches. At the rear, there is a 20th-century outshut with a slate roof. Inside, the cottage features two open fireplaces, one of which has a cloam oven to the right. The roof structure is a four-bay A-frame with pegged collars.
