Description
Yeo Vale Farm Cottages are a pair of dwellings that were originally a farmhouse, dating from the early 17th century. The building features colourwashed render over coursed slatestone rubble and has a mid-19th century gabled slate roof. There are three stacks: a rendered stone stack at the left end, a similar lateral stack in the center of the front wall, and a brick stack at the right end, all dating from the 19th century. The structure has a three-unit plan with a cross passage to the left of the central hall and stands two storeys high with a four-window range.
The entrance features a 17th-century panelled door set within an ovolo and cyma-moulded wood architrave. The windows are late 19th century and 20th century, consisting of one to three-light casements with glazing bars. A mid-19th century two-storey extension projects at a right angle from the front left.
Inside the left side of the house, there is a back of a 17th-century plank and stud partition, 17th-century winder stairs, a stop-chamfered doorframe from the 17th century leading to the rear, and a 17th-century plank door that has been reset in the 19th-century extension. On the right side, the early 17th-century front door opens into the cross passage, which is flanked by early 17th-century plank and muntin partitions featuring ogee stops on the ovolo-moulded muntins. The room to the right has boxed beams, and the feet of A-frame trusses are visible at the first-floor level.
