Description
This is a house located at 9 Buttgarden Street in Bideford, dating from the early to mid 19th century. The front of the house is solid and rendered, with the roof not visible from the street. There are two rendered chimneys on the left side wall. The building has three storeys and a two-window range.
On the ground floor, there is a canted bay window on the left, featuring plain sashes and an entablature at the top with a flat leaded roof. To the right, there is a doorway with a small flat moulded hood, which has a partly reeded underside. The entrance includes a deeply recessed six-panelled door, where the two lowest panels are flush and the four upper panels are now glazed. This door is approached by a flight of four worn stone steps.
The windows on the upper storeys have six-paned sashes, except for the upper sashes on the third storey, which have only three panes. The interior has not been inspected.
