Description

This is a house located at 61 Newport Road in Barnstaple, dating from the 17th century but remodeled in the early and mid-19th century. The front is solidly rendered, and it has a slated roof with a pair of diagonally set red brick chimneys on the right side wall. The house is two storeys high and features a three-window range.

The central doorway has a mid to late 20th-century glazed door set within a 19th-century moulded architrave, topped with a flat hood supported by horizontal brackets, and a shaped board (likely added later) attached to the front. On the right side, there is a canted bay window with a moulded top cornice and sash windows, with the middle light featuring a single upright glazing bar. To the left, there is a wide window with a pair of box-framed sashes.

On the upper storey, the central window is blind, while the outer windows have two-paned box-framed sashes. The eaves are boxed with a cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
