Description
Heacham House, located on South Street in Newport, is an early 19th-century house with a solid rendered front and a slated roof. It features a red brick chimney on each side wall and stands two storeys high with a three-window range. The central doorway is framed by attached Doric columns and an entablature, and it has a six-panelled door with a knocker and panelled reveals. In front of the right-hand column, there is a patterned shoescraper. On either side of the doorway, there are bow windows with flattened fronts, each topped with an entablature and containing triple sashes: the centre has eight over eight panes, while the sides have four over four panes. The upper-storey windows are fitted with eight-paned sashes. At each end of the front, there are giant panelled pilasters, and a moulded board below the eaves breaks forward over these pilasters. The interior has not been inspected. The house also includes area railings similar to those found at Nos 1 and 2.
