Description
This is a house located at 97 Newport Road in Barnstaple, dating from the early 19th century. It features solid rendered walls and a slated roof, with a red brick chimney on the left end wall, likely shared with the adjacent property at No. 96. The house is two storeys high and has a three-window range with a central doorway. The door, which is a late 20th-century panelled wood design, is topped by an original fanlight with diagonal intersecting glazing bars. On either side of the door, there are wood canted bay windows that have a top entablature and flat roofs; the front windows have eight panes, while the side windows have two panes. The upper storey windows are set under segmental arches and also feature eight-paned sashes. The eaves are adorned with a moulded eaves-board. The interior has not been inspected.
