Description
14 Buttgarden Street is a house dating from the early to mid 19th century. It has a solid rendered front and a slate roof, with a late 20th-century brown-brick chimney on the left side wall. The building stands three storeys high and features a two-window range. The ground storey displays horizontal channelling, with a four-panelled door located in the right-hand bay, topped by a moulded cornice supported by consoles. To the left of the door is a three-light window, which has sashes with six panes in the centre and two panes on either side; the top of the window frame includes a pair of consoles.
The upper-storey windows consist of six-paned sashes, with the third-storey sashes featuring horns. The left-hand second-storey window is a flat-topped canted bay, which is adorned with an entablature at the top that has a deeply-projecting cornice. This bay has sash windows, with the middle one containing twelve panes below and eight above, while the outer windows have six panes below and four above. The front of the house is finished with an entablature that also has a deeply-projecting cornice. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted that the entrance includes a half-glazed inner door with two small moulded panels at the bottom and small-paned glazing with margin-panes above.
