Description
No. 14 Lower Meddon Street is a house dating from the early to mid 19th century. It features a solid rendered front with faint traces of masonry markings and has a slate roof with a rendered chimney on the left side wall. The building stands three storeys high and has a two-window range with a doorway to the left. There is a raised band above the ground storey. The entrance includes a six-panelled door, with the two lowest panels flush, and it has an old letterbox and a knocker, although the knocking-piece is missing. Above the door is a flat moulded hood supported by shaped brackets. To the right of the ground storey, there is a large window with a fixed 16-pane sash, flanked by pilasters that support an entablature. The frieze has shaped ends, and the cornice is supported by brackets at either end. The upper-storey windows have eight-paned sashes, except for the upper third-storey sashes, which have only four panes. A moulded board runs below the eaves. The interior has not been inspected.
