Description

This building is an outbuilding that was formerly a dwelling, located approximately 50 meters east of Netherdowns Farmhouse. It dates back to the 17th century and is constructed of coursed slatestone rubble with cob at the top. The roof is gabled and made of corrugated iron. There is a truncated external lateral stack on the left end of the front wall, which has a bread-oven projection, and another stack with a bread-oven projection at the rear right. The building has a 3-unit plan with a through-passage to the left of the central room and is two storeys high with a three-window range.

The front features timber lintels over two 20th-century plank doors in the center, and stop-chamfered timber lintels over a window to the left. On the first floor, there are two shuttered windows. Inside, the room to the left has a boxed beam and a flat stone arch over an open fireplace that includes a cloam oven. The through-passage has a blocked rear door and is flanked by plank and stud partitions; the partition on the right includes half of a 17th-century chamfered round-arched doorway.
