Description
Pillmouth Cottage is a building that was likely constructed in the late 17th century or early 18th century, with remodels occurring in the 19th and 20th centuries. Originally two cottages, it has now been converted into a single house. The exterior features colourwashed render over coursed slatestone rubble, topped with a thatch roof that has a gabled section on the left and a hipped section on the right. There is a rendered ridge stack on the right side. The cottage has a three-unit plan, is one storey high with an attic, and has a two-window range. A timber lintel is present above the central 20th-century door. The windows include a mix of 20th-century one- and two-light casements, with a timber lintel above them. The gabled half-dormers feature late 19th-century casements on the right and an early 19th-century casement on the left, which has leaded lights and a leaded tympanum with Gothick glazing. There is a late 19th-century outshut bay added to the front on the right and an early 19th-century rear left bay. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
