Description
Halspill Lime Kiln is a lime kiln built for Lord Rolle around 1823-1824. It is constructed from coursed and roughly dressed slatestone rubble. The kiln features brick semi-circular arches over its openings and has an earth ramp leading to the first-floor level. This kiln is part of a group of lime kilns located along the river Torridge, which were financed by Lord Rolle. The limestone used in the kiln was transported from the Gower Peninsula and Caldy Island for use on local farms.
