Description

Halfpenny Bridge is a bridge that spans the River Torridge and dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed and roughly dressed slatestone with ashlar dressings, and features concrete render on the coping. The bridge has three segmental arches that are separated by plain pilasters, which extend through the upper string course, as well as by half-round cutwaters. The ends of the bridge have pointed cutwaters. The bridge is also shown on the Ordnance Survey map as Weare Giffard Bridge.
