Description

Annery Kiln is a lime kiln built for Lord Rolle around 1823-1824. It is constructed from coursed slatestone rubble. The ruins of the kiln feature pointed Gothick arches at the doorways and an earth ramp leading to the central entrance on the upper level. This kiln is part of a group of lime kilns located along the River Torridge, which were financed by Lord Rolle. The limestone used in the kilns was sourced from the Gower Peninsula and Caldy Island for use on local farms.
