Description
Little Weare Cottage is a house dated 1615, with external alterations made in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building features colourwashed render over cob and stone, and has a gabled roof made of slate and asbestos slate. There is a late 19th-century stack on the right end and a lateral stack of rendered stone that includes a bread oven. The cottage has a one-unit plan and is two storeys high, with a front that has a two-window range featuring randomly-placed late 19th-century casements. A stair outshut is located at the centre of the front elevation, which has a 20th-century porch to the left and a 20th-century outshut to the right. Although the interior was not inspected, it was noted in 1987 to have 17th-century plasterwork with an overmantle, frieze, stop-chamfered beams and doorway, and an A-frame truss with a pegged collar and trenched purlins.
