Description
The Gardens is a small house located on South Street in Dolton, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with an addition from the 18th century. The house features rendered cob walls and a gable-ended thatch roof. There are brick gable-end stacks on the left and at the rear wing, along with a projecting rendered rubble stack at the right gable-end with a brick shaft.
The building is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with two windows on the first floor and three on the ground floor. The ground floor windows are 20th-century one and two-light casements, while the first-floor windows have eyebrows in the thatch above them. A 20th-century plank door is positioned to the right of centre. The left-hand end has a wing that projects to the rear, featuring similar windows in small openings.
Inside, the right-hand room contains insubstantial rough cross beams and an open fireplace with a wooden lintel.
