Dolton War Memorial, including memorial cross and garden walls, railings, gate piers, and gate

The Dolton War Memorial, which includes a memorial cross and surrounding garden walls, railings, gate piers, and a gate, is located in a small garden enclosure at the junction of South Street and Fore Street. This area features several other Grade II-listed buildings. The memorial consists of a 3-meter tall wheel-head cross made of Dartmoor granite, which is set on a square pedestal that rests on a square base. The main dedicatory inscription on the front of the pedestal reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN HONOURED MEMORY OF MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 -1918 (NAMES)." The names of those commemorated are listed by regiment or service, with additional names from the Second World War noted on one side.

The garden is enclosed by a coped wall made of Dolton stone, topped with hoop-topped iron railings, except at the rear where the wall is higher than the garden's lawn and is not railed. Access to the cross is provided by a set of steps that lead up from the garden gate, which is also made of hoop-topped rails with dog rails, and is supported by stone piers topped with pyramidal caps.
