Description
Vineyard Cottage is a cottage dating from the early 18th century, located on the north side of Vine Street in Winkleigh. The building features rendered cob walls and a gable-ended thatch roof, with a rendered brick stack at the left end. The plan consists of a two-room layout with a passageway at the right-hand end leading to a rear courtyard. There is a 19th-century addition at the back of the left-hand end.
The exterior is two storeys high, with a regular two-window front. The first floor has 19th-century three-light small-paned casements, while the ground floor features mid to late 19th-century 12-pane sash windows. At the centre, there is a 19th-century or early 20th-century part-glazed door, and to the right, an early 20th-century plank door leading to the passageway. Inside, the fireplace in the left-hand room has a roughly chamfered wooden lintel.
