Description
The Methodist Chapel, originally a Bible Christian chapel and Sunday School, was built in 1883. It features rubble walls with yellow brick dressings and has a gable-ended slate roof adorned with decorative ridge tiles and wrought iron finials. The chapel is designed in the Gothic style and consists of a single-storey chapel on the right and a slightly projecting two-storey wing on the left that houses the Sunday School, with a gallery above it.
The exterior of the chapel includes three arched and traceried windows, along with a two-centred doorway at the left end, which has double plank doors with ornate strap hinges. The left wing has one two-light arched-head window on each floor. The right gable-end wall mirrors the front of the chapel with two similar windows and features a quatrefoil between them. A plaque below the windows reads "Bible Christian Chapel 1883."
Inside, the chapel retains its complete fittings, including a gallery with folding doors at the front, allowing for flexible use of the space. The chapel is also accompanied by contemporary low iron railings at the front.
