Description
This is a mid-17th century house located on Barnstaple Street, Winkleigh. It is constructed of rendered cob and rubble walls, topped with a thatched, gable-ended roof. A projecting stack, built of rendered rubble with a brick shaft, is located at the right gable end. The original plan comprised two rooms and a through-passage, with the larger room on the right heated by the end stack. A rear addition was built in the 19th and 20th centuries. The front facade features a regular arrangement of three windows on each floor. The ground floor windows are early 19th century, 20-pane sashes, while the first floor features a central window with 12 panes, alongside other 20-pane sashes. A later 20th-century 2-light, small-pane casement window replaces the original window on the ground floor to the right.
