Description
A pair of cottages located in Winkleigh, dating from the early 18th century. The walls are rendered cob, and the roof is thatched with gable ends. Brick shafts sit atop rendered rubble stacks at each end. Originally, each cottage consisted of a single room, although number 4 is smaller than number 5. A central alleyway divides the two cottages. Later 19th-century additions were made to the rear. The cottages are two storeys high and have an asymmetrical four-window frontage, with two windows to each cottage. Number 4 has early 20th-century two and three-light casement windows, and a 19th or early 20th-century four-panel door. A further doorway between the cottages leads to a passageway at the rear. The interior was inaccessible when the property was surveyed.
