Description
Merton Mill Cottage is a cottage dating from the early 18th century. It has rendered cob and rubble walls and a thatched roof that is gabled to the left and hipped to the right, with a brick stack at the gable end. The cottage has a two-room plan, with a larger heated room on the left. There is probably a 19th-century lean-to outbuilding added to the left-hand end. The exterior features two storeys and a regular two-window front, with small-paned casements from the 19th or early 20th century—three lights to the left and two lights to the right, along with a later 20th-century window on the ground floor to the right. The centre of the front has a slight projection with a 20th-century plank and part-glazed door, and there is a lean-to against the left-hand end. The interior was inaccessible at the time of the survey.
