Description
Fidget's Rest is a house that likely dates back to medieval times, with alterations from the early to mid 17th century and probable extensions made in the 19th century. The building has rendered cob walls and a hipped thatch roof, with a projecting rendered rubble lateral stack at the front.
The original layout was probably a two-room-and-through-passage plan, with a hall on the right heated by the front lateral stack. The right-hand end of the house appears to be a 19th-century extension or a conversion of an outbuilding.
The exterior features two storeys and an asymmetrical three-window front. The right-hand end is a lower extension that has a window only on the ground floor. The windows are 20th-century casements with one and two lights. There is a 20th-century thatched porch towards the left-hand end, which has a later 20th-century panelled door behind it.
Inside, the house is said to have a smoke-blackened medieval roof structure, and there may be additional early internal features.
