Description
Duckslake is a small house dating from the mid to late 17th century, possibly with earlier origins, and features a 19th-century extension. The house has rendered cob walls and a gable-ended thatch roof, supported by two brick stacks, one axial and one at the left gable end. The building has a two-room plan, with each room heated; the right-hand room is heated by the axial stack.
The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with two windows, featuring mid to late 20th-century diamond leaded pane two-light casements. There is a 19th-century plank door at the right-hand end, which is sheltered by a short catslide roof and a rustic wooden porch. A 19th-century outshut extends along the rear wall. Although the interior was inaccessible during the survey, it is believed to contain two open fireplaces with wooden lintels, and there may also be some old roof timbers still in place.
