Description
Hobby Lodge is a lodge located at the driveway entrance to Clovelly Court, built in the mid-19th century and extended in 1913. It features snecked rubble construction and has gabled plain tile roofs with deep eaves, ornamental clay ridge tiles, and decorative fretwork barge-boards. The chimneys have tall diagonally set brick shafts on the ridges, with one pair and one single chimney.
The lodge has a cruciform plan and a loose Tudor style, and it is a single-storey building. The façade facing the driveway entrance includes a canted bay window with four lights, square-paned leaded lights, and stained glass in the toplights. This bay window is situated beneath a jettied gable supported by stone corbels, featuring a planted timber frame and plastered whitewashed nogging. To the right, there is a wing set back that contains a two-light casement window with square-paned leaded lights. A six-panelled door is located in the right return of a further wing. The gable end of this wing, which faces the main road, features a very large four-light transomed casement with small-paned leaded lights on the lower half and wood glazing bars with small panes on the upper half.
