Description
The Gate Lodge to Wormington Grange is a lodge built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of ashlar with brick chimneys and has a stone slate roof. The building features three bays and is one room deep with one and a half storeys, highlighted by a projecting central porch. The corners of the main block are accentuated with projecting quoins. On the right side, there is a two-light casement window with small panes and a hoodmould above it. The porch includes a plastered arched recess on the right return and a half-glazed door with six glass panels; the lower two panels are flush, and the door is topped with a four-centred arch and a hoodmould. A coat-of-arms is displayed in the gable. To the left, there is a window similar to the one on the right. The stone eaves are swept with a bullnose edge, which is interrupted by plain blocks, and stone runs up the slope of the roof to the lead eaves gutter. The porch features a parapet gable, which mirrors the lower section of the lodge. The main block has a hipped roof with a central chimney that has an ashlar base and a brick top, along with a brick chimney at the front right corner. A gabled dormer with a two-light casement is present on the right return. The lodge forms a group with the entrance gates nearby. There is a late 20th-century addition to the rear that is not of special interest.
