Description

The Vine is a former house that has been converted into a guest house. It dates from the 17th century and was likely altered in the 19th century, with further modifications made in the early 20th century by and for Sir P. Stott. The building is constructed of roughly squared, coursed stone and features a stone-slate roof.

The front of the building has four units and is two rooms deep, rising to two and a half storeys. The entrance front displays all mullioned windows, each with hoodmoulds. To the right, there is a two-light window, while the central entrance features a four-light window above a six-panel door set beneath a four-centred arch, with a deep stone lintel and hoodmould. A single-light window is located to the left. Above the entrance, there are three- and two-light windows, and the wall extends into an off-centre gable that has a two-light window and a parapet gable.

The building has parapet gables at each end, with a cross-gablet apex on the right side. An ashlar chimney with a moulded cap is positioned to the left, and there is an additional chimney on the ridge to the right of the cross gable. To the left, there is a slightly lower wing that is set slightly forward, featuring a two-light window on each floor and a parapet gable with a cross-gablet apex at the left end.
