Description
Manor Farmhouse is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It was built in 1678, as indicated by the datestone, and was enlarged in the 18th century. The building underwent alterations in the 1920s by and for Sir P. Stott, with further changes made in the mid to late 20th century. The structure is made of roughly squared, coursed stone and features artificial stone slates, with natural stone slates on the lower wing.
The farmhouse is three bays wide, one room deep, and two and a half storeys tall, with a gable facing the road. At the rear, there is a two-bay, single-storey wing that forms an 'L' shape. The main house has mullioned windows with hoodmoulds, including a four-light window on the ground floor and a blocked doorway to the left, with a three-light window above and a two-light window in the gable. The gable has a parapet with a cross-gablet apex.
On the left side, there is a slightly projecting gabled section near the road with a two-light window. To the left of this is a boarded door with a chamfered surround and a flat stone lintel, and a single-light window without a hoodmould. Above the door, there is a three-light window on the right of the projection, a datestone, and a keyed oval window above it, along with a two-light window over the door and a vertical joint to the left. Both ends of the building and the wing have parapet gables, and there is a ridge chimney on the wing with a moulded cap, as well as a six-flue ashlar chimney to the left of the door on the main ridge.
The left wing features two- and three-light mullioned windows, with the latter located in the projecting section. There is also a louvred ventilator with a pyramid roof on the ridge. Inside, the farmhouse has a heavy chamfer on the ceiling beam, scalloped pyramid stops, and chamfered joists in the two front rooms.
