Description

Bridge House West is a lodge built in the mid-19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick, featuring ashlar dressings and quoins. The roof is covered in fishscale tiles, with sprocketed eaves and a decorative ridge. There is a single central ridge stack and an external gable stack on the rear wing. The gables are stone-coped and topped with decorative ridge finials.

The building has a T-plan and is a single storey plus attic, comprising two bays. The west front includes a left projecting bay window with the main roof extending over it. There is a tripartite cross casement window and single similar light casements in the side walls. To the right, a single two-light cross casement is set within a flush ashlar quoin surround. A gabled half dormer to the right features a small casement window with a flush ashlar quoin surround.

On the north front, there is a canted bay with a quadripartite cross casement. Above this is a two-light mullion window, also with a flush ashlar quoin surround, and at the apex, there is a decorative arrow loop with a similar surround. To the left, slightly projecting, is a gabled porch that has a chamfered pointed arched ashlar doorway with a plank door. Further left and set back is a single storey plus attic single bay with a two-light cross casement in a flush ashlar quoin surround and a gabled half dormer with a small casement window, also with a similar surround. Some alterations have been made to other fronts of the building.
