Description
The Church of St Anne is a church built in 1862 for the establishment of an ecclesiastical parish by Mrs Elwes. It features stone rubble walls and a gable-ended slate roof, with a conical roof on the tower. The church has a rectangular plan consisting of a nave and chancel, with the tower projecting on the north side and a porch on the south side. The tower was restored in 1887 and is designed in the Decorated style.
On the exterior, there are simple 1 and 2-light Decorated style windows, with two on the north side and four on the south side. The west end has two 2-light windows with a rose window above, while the east end features a more elaborate 3-light window. The tower, which projects on the north side of the chancel/nave division, has slate hanging on its top stage and two 2-centred arched doorways on its east side, one located at the first-floor level. The gabled south porch has moulded outer and inner arches. The chancel is lower than the nave.
Inside, there is a moulded chancel arch and a carved stone pulpit accessed by a doorway from the tower. The roof structure is arch-braced, with alternate trusses as raised crucks resting on stone corbels. The bench ends are simply panelled.
