Description

The Square is a cottage located in Petrockstowe, dating from the mid to late 17th century, with a 19th-century addition. It features rendered cob and rubble walls and has a hipped thatch roof. The axial stack is likely made of rendered brick. The current layout consists of two rooms: a smaller room on the left with an entrance in its end wall, and a larger room on the right that is heated by an axial fireplace. A 19th-century lean-to has been added at the rear. The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical front that has two windows on the upper floor and four late 20th-century single pane casement windows on the ground floor. There is a 20th-century glazed door located in the left-hand end wall, which is sheltered by a 19th-century gabled porch. The interior was inaccessible at the time of the survey.
