Description

The Kingsteignton War Memorial is a tribute to those who served in the First and Second World Wars, first dedicated in 1921. It is constructed from Dartmoor granite and features slate tablets. The memorial consists of a Maltese wheel cross with a tapering shaft, which is mounted on a square plinth and base.

On three sides of the plinth, there are slate tablets with black lettering inscriptions. The front elevation, facing south, includes the inscription: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND/ IN HONOURED MEMORY OF THE MEN OF/ THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE/ GREAT WAR 1914-1919/ THEY DIED THAT WE MIGHT LIVE," followed by the names of those who fell in the First World War. The names of those who died in the Second World War are inscribed on tablets located on either side of the memorial.
