Description

Lower House, which includes a wall and railings in front, is a miller's house that adjoins a mill building, dating from the early 19th century. The house is whitewashed and rendered, with an asbestos slate roof that is gabled at both ends. There is a tall brick stack at the right end next to the mill building, and two lateral stacks on the crosswing, with one stack positioned between the crosswing and the main range. The building is arranged in an L shape, with the main range consisting of two rooms wide and a single depth, featuring a central entrance, a 20th-century rear lean-to, and a crosswing at the left end that has two heated rooms. Both the crosswing and the main range overlook the churchyard.

The house is two storeys high and has a three-bay symmetrical front on the main range, which includes a platband at the first floor level. A central timber porch is topped with a miniature grinding stone, and there is a panelled front door with glazed top panels. The windows are 16-pane sash windows without horns. The front elevation of the wing features a first-floor four-pane sash window and a 20th-century round-headed window facing the churchyard. In front of the house, there is a low grey limestone rubble wall topped with iron railings, creating a triangular courtyard. The interior has not been inspected. The house has group value with the adjacent mill building.
