Description
24 and 25 Fore Street are a pair of attached houses with shops, dating from the early to mid 19th century. They are finished in painted stucco, with the first and second floors of No. 25 featuring 20th-century roughcast. The buildings have a continuous slate roof with a rendered stack on the right.
The exterior is three storeys high and has a symmetrical two-window arrangement for the pair. There is a modillion cornice, with four-over-eight pane sash windows at eaves level and eight-over-eight pane sashes on the first floor, all featuring bracketed sills. The ground floor has banded rustication, with 20th-century paired doors in the centre, flanked by bowed shop windows that have consoles supporting a fascia and cornice that spans the entire facade. The shop window for No. 24 on the left has 24 fixed panes, while No. 25 has curved frames for a twelve-over-twelve pane sash window and a two-light casement in the dormer. The interior has not been inspected.
