Description
Higher Rocombe Farmhouse, including the front garden wall and gate piers, is a farmhouse and garden wall likely built in the early 19th century. The building is rendered with cob on stone rubble footings and has a slate roof that is gabled at both ends, featuring end stacks. The farmhouse has a double depth plan, consisting of two rooms wide with a central entrance and a single-storey lean-to on the right end, which is slightly set back.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-bay front. It features a central 19th-century gabled timber porch with a pointed arched outer doorway and diagonal boarding, along with cusped bargeboards and a timber pendant in the gable. The front door is from the 20th century, and there are 19th or 20th-century three-light timber casements with glazing bars. In front of the house is a stone rubble garden wall with irregular capping stones and square section gate piers, which are included in the listing. The interior has not been inspected. The farmhouse has group value with the farm buildings in the small yard to the north and a large cob barn located on the other side of the road to the southwest.
