Description

SX 86 NE KINGSKERSWELL 3/153 Barn approximately 12 metres to - north of South Wilborough 23.8.55 Farmhouse GV II Barn. Circa early C19. Limestone rubble walls with dressed stone to doorways; gable ended tarred slate roof. Probably row of shippons on ground floor with independant access and storage above. 2 storeys. Imposing facade which originally had 9 adjoining arched doorways with chamfered dressed stone jambs, some are now blocked. On first floor at centre is wide loading doorway with slit opening to either side. This building was built to be decorative as well as functional and presumably reflects an increasing prosperity in the farm complex.
