Description
This barn, located approximately 12 metres north of South Wilborough Farmhouse, dates from the early 19th century. It features limestone rubble walls with dressed stone around the doorways and has a gable-ended tarred slate roof. The structure is likely a row of shippons on the ground floor, providing independent access with storage above, and it stands two storeys tall. The impressive facade originally had nine adjoining arched doorways with chamfered dressed stone jambs, although some of these are now blocked. At the centre of the first floor, there is a wide loading doorway flanked by slit openings on either side. This barn was designed to be both decorative and functional, reflecting the growing prosperity of the farm complex.
