Description
This building is a barn located about 10 metres north of Gooseford Farmhouse. It dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century and is constructed from slatestone rubble with granite dressings. The barn features a slate roof with gable ends and has a large bank barn design, with a shippon on the ground floor and a barn above.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical front. The ground floor includes six round-arched shippon doorways with slatestone heads, granite springers, and keystones. There are two centrally placed loading doors with hipped hoods and granite cills. On the right end, there is a round-arched window at the first floor, while the ground floor opening to the right is a window rather than a doorway. The left end has a single-storey lean-to with a hipped roof and a door at the front, as well as a ventilation slit for the loft. At the rear, there is one doorway to the left, a round-arched window with a similar dressed head set off-centre to the left, and double doors with a pitched hood set off-centre to the right. A 20th-century addition with a corrugated iron roof is present at the rear.
Inside, the roof features scissors trusses.
