Description
This is a barn located about 70 metres north-northwest of Black Hall, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of slate rubble with granite quoins and features a half-hipped scantle slate roof adorned with red clay crested ridge tiles. The barn has a rectangular plan and is two storeys high, with first-floor doorways at the front and rear, positioned over back-to-back shippons.
On the west front, there are four shippon doorways on the ground floor, each with flat slate arches. The doorway to the left of the centre has been converted into a window. In the centre of the first floor, there is a wide loading doorway with plank double doors, which has a canopy supported by wooden cantilevers, also covered with a scantle slate roof and sides. There are ventilation slits on either side of the loading doorway.
The east elevation is similar, with the two central shippon doorways converted into one wide doorway. To the right, there is a later small first-floor window, and adjoining to the left is a linhay at right angles, featuring square piers and asbestos sheet cladding above.
