Description

The bank barn located immediately southwest of Westcombe Farmhouse dates from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed from local stone rubble and features a slate hipped roof. The barn is built into higher ground at the rear and at the right end, where there is a doorway leading to the first-floor barn above the shippon, which faces the farmyard at the front.

The front of the barn has ground storey segmented stone arched shippon doorways and small square windows. Above these, there are five long ventilation slits, each secured with three timber ties across the openings. The rear of the barn has three long ventilation slits without ties. At the higher right end, there is a wide entrance to the barn loft, which has a 20th-century plank door set in an old frame. The left end features a cart shed with a loft above, characterized by a weatherboarded front and a lean-to roof. The interior has not been inspected.
