DARTINGTON SX76SE Bank barn immediately 1/104 south west of Westcombe Farmhouse

GV II

Bank barn with shippon, circa early to mid C19. Local stone rubble. Slate hipped roof. Plan. Bank barn built into higher ground at rear and at right end where there is a doorway into the first floor barn which is above the shippon facing the farmyard at the front; at left end and a cartwheel with left above. Exterior: Front: ground storey has segmented stone arched shippon doorways and small square windows. 5 long ventilation slits above, each with 3 timber ties across the openings. At the rear 3 long ventilation slits without ties. At the higher right end wide entrance to barn loft with C20 plank door in old frame. At the left end a cart shed with loft above with weatherboarded front and lean-to roof. Interior: not inspected.
