Description
This is a mid-19th century bank barn located to the west-southwest of Molescombe House. It is constructed of slate rubble with red brick arches over the doorways and has an asbestos tile roof with both hipped and gabled ends. The barn has a long rectangular shape, featuring a shippon on the ground floor that faces the farmyard, while the barn area above is accessible from a higher ground level at the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high, with five shippon doorways on the ground floor, each featuring red brick segmental arches. The doorway to the right of the centre has been converted into a window. A central doorway is located under a flight of stone steps, leading to a loft doorway above, which has a 19th-century plank door and a hipped slate canopy. The rear elevation is at a higher ground level and includes a central doorway to the barn with a canopy extending from the main roof, as well as loft doorways on both sides, which have two-light sash windows inserted. The southeast corner of the barn is rounded. Although the interior was not inspected, it is reported that the floor and roof structure have been recently replaced.
