Description

A courtyard of farmbuildings dating to the mid-to-late 19th century, located to the east of Westborough Farmhouse. The buildings are constructed of red sandstone with a slate roof, and feature two chimney stacks. The layout consists of four ranges forming a square courtyard, with an entrance on the west range leading from a lane that runs between the farmhouse and the courtyard.

The west range, facing outward, has a large, square-headed yard entrance with rounded corners on its right (south) side, featuring a pair of 19th-century timber gates. Three further doorways are present on this elevation; the two on the right have stone voussoirs and keyblocks. The interior of the west range includes a heated room, believed to be the tack room, and potentially a second room. The south range is blind on its south-facing side, but the inner elevation has three doorways at ground level, two windows, and two loft doors. The east range is largely blind on its outer (east) facing side, with one window. The inner elevation features five ground floor doorways, three windows, one loft window, and a loading door. The north range is also blind except for a gabled loft loading door at the east end. The inner elevation of the north and west ranges were not visible at the time of survey.

The farmbuildings form a handsome group when viewed from the roadside, contributing to the group value alongside the farmhouse (listed separately).
