Description

This is a K6 telephone kiosk, a standardised design dating from the 1930s, located in Combeinteignhead. The kiosk is constructed of cast iron and is painted red with long horizontal glazing in the door and sides. The crowns on the top panels are applied, rather than perforated, reflecting a later production detail. Rectangular white display signs reading TELEPHONE are positioned beneath the shallow-curved roof. The internal equipment has been modernised. The display signs are faded, although the lettering remains legible in places, and the red paint is flaking. The kiosk retains its original glass windows. It stands at a crossroads within the Combeinteignhead Conservation Area, close to Brooklands and Bridge House (both Grade II listed buildings). The view also includes Little Cottage and April Cottage (both Grade II listed buildings) and the tower of the parish Church of All Saints (Grade II* listed building).
