Description
This is a mid-19th century warehouse located in Teignmouth. The building features a pebbledash exterior, likely over red sandstone rubble, and has a corrugated asbestos roof. It has a rectangular plan and consists of three storeys and a basement on the western side, with a two-storey, three-bay block added to the north-west facade in the 20th century. The eastern side has a six-window range, with segmental arches and iron bars across some two-light casement windows, although most windows are from the 20th century. The south gabled end includes a flight of steps leading to a door on the left, with 20th-century windows on the first and second floors and a blocked third floor. The north-west block features metal windows dating from around 1920. The interior has not been inspected. This warehouse is noted for its historical significance as a largely intact dock warehouse in Teignmouth, which was a port that traded in timber, granite, manganese, ball clay, and other goods during the 19th century.
