Description
Poole Cottage and Rose Cottage are a pair of cottages dating from the early 18th century. They feature rendered rubble walls and have gable-ended thatch roofs with stone coping at the right-hand end. Each cottage has a projecting rendered stack at the gable ends, likely rebuilt in the 20th century. The layout of each house consists of a two-room plan, with the outer room in each cottage being heated. The right-hand cottage projects slightly, suggesting that the building may have been constructed in two phases.
The cottages are two storeys high with an asymmetrical two-window front. Poole Cottage, on the left, has 20th-century two-light casements and a 19th-century four-panel door located to the left of centre, which is sheltered by a thatch hood. Rose Cottage, on the right, also projects slightly and features 20th-century two-light casements on the ground floor and an early 19th-century 12-pane horizontal sliding sash window on the first floor to the right. There is a doorway in the porched rear. The interior was inaccessible at the time of the survey.
