Description

The Old Cottage is likely an 18th-century house that has been significantly altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble walls and has a thatched roof, gabled at the right end and half-hipped to the left. At each end of the building are projecting stacks, one of rendered rubble and the other with a brick shaft. The original plan included two rooms, with a two-storey rear outshut that is thought to be a 20th-century addition. The front elevation has a regular two-window arrangement including 20th-century small-paned, two-light casements. A central, open-fronted stone porch with a thatched roof provides access to a 20th-century plank door. The interior was inaccessible for inspection.
