Description
Smugglers End is a cottage dating from the late 17th century. It features plastered rubble walls, which may include some cob, and has a gable-ended thatch roof with a squat rendered rubble axial stack. The building has a three-room plan, with the axial stack situated between the central and right-hand rooms. The partitions between the central and left-hand rooms have been removed. A 20th-century garage has been constructed in front of the right-hand end.
The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with two windows, featuring early 20th-century small-paned two-light casements. There is a 20th-century part-glazed door located to the left of centre, and the leanto garage is positioned in front of the right-hand end.
Inside, the ceiling beams have been replaced in the 20th century, but the cottage retains an open fireplace with a timber lintel.
