Description

A pair of cottages, likely dating from the 18th century and remodelled around the early 19th century. The cottages have walls of rendered stone rubble and a gable ended roof covered in asbestos slate. There is a rendered brick stack at the left gable end, and a rendered rubble stack with a brick shaft at the right-hand end. Each cottage has a two-room plan, with a central entrance. The outer room of each is heated. The front of the cottages features a regular arrangement of two and three windows. Swan Cottage has early 19th century horizontal sliding sash windows on the first floor; eight panes to the left and twelve panes to the right. Similar windows, with eighteen and eight panes respectively, are located on the ground floor. It has a 20th-century open porch with a partially-glazed 19th-century door. Duck Cottage has early 20th-century two-light casement windows on the first floor, and smaller, multi-paned windows from the 19th century on the ground floor. It also has a 20th-century open porch with a partially-glazed door behind. The interiors were not accessible at the time of the survey.
