Description

A pair of cottages located in Launceston, likely dating to the 18th century or possibly originating as a 17th-century house that was later converted. The construction features rubble walls with segmental brick arches at ground-floor level, covered by rag slate roofs, with rendered rubble end stacks. The houses are arranged with a double-depth plan, incorporating rear outshuts. They present a nearly symmetrical facade with four windows. The upper floor has early 19th-century nine-pane hornless sash windows. The ground floor has a 12-pane horned sash on the left, an 8-pane hornless sash on the right, and a pair of central doorways. A 20th-century door is set within a glazed porch on the left (at No. 3), while No. 5 has an early 19th-century six-panel door, with the top two panels later glazed, set within an open porch, both porches having slate roofs. A straight joint visible to the left of the doorway suggests an earlier construction phase. The interior was not inspected.
