Description
Madford Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge located on Southgate Place in Launceston. It features painted rubble walls with timber lintels and rag slate roofs. The building has a double-depth plan with a rear wing that is set at right angles. It stands two storeys high and has a one-window range facing the street, as well as a one-window range on the right-hand return. Most of the principal windows retain their original pointed-arched leaded lights. The front of the lodge has a 20th-century door on the left and a slate-roofed canted bay window on the right. The return side has a similar first-floor window on a canted rubble projection, with a door on the right that has a slate hood. The interior has not been inspected.
