Description

This is a house dating from the mid to later 17th century. It is built of rendered stone rubble with an asbestos slate roof, gabled at the left-hand end and hipped to the right. The house has two rendered rubble stacks: one at the left-hand gable end with a dripmould and a brick shaft, a similar stack at the right-hand end, and a later inserted brick shaft at the front. Originally, the plan was for two rooms, with the larger room to the right, both rooms having fireplaces. Later, in the late 19th or early 20th century, the right-hand room was subdivided and a further stack was added to its front wall. The front of the house has an asymmetrical three-window arrangement with 2 and 3-light casement windows from the 20th century. A small-paned window from the 19th century is located on the ground floor to the left. A 20th-century part-glazed door is located to the left of the centre and sits behind a small, open-fronted porch. There is another door in the right-hand end wall. The interior was inaccessible at the time of survey, but is thought to have remained largely unaltered since the early 20th century. The group value derives from the building’s contribution to the character of the village.
