Description
No. 7 and the adjoining cottage to the left are a pair of cottages dating from around the mid-17th century. They feature plastered cob walls and gable-ended thatch roofs, with a brick stack at each end. Each cottage appears to have a two-room plan, with the outer room of each heated. There is a 19th-century outshut behind the right-hand cottage. Originally, they were constructed as a single unit with Swan Cottage to the right.
The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical three-window front. The right-hand cottage has two early 20th-century small-paned two-light casements and a 20th-century plank door to the left. The left-hand cottage, No. 7, has an outshut on its left side, with the thatch roof extending in a catslide over it. It features late 20th-century two-light casements without glazing bars and a lean-to 20th-century porch at the angle with the outshut, which has a part-glazed door.
Inside No. 7, there is a fireplace with a high moulded wooden lintel. The roof structure is integral with that of the adjoining Swan Cottage to the right and, although it dates from the 19th century, it incorporates some smoke-blackened timbers.
